The flag of San Diego is made of three vertical bands, colored from left to right, dark red, white and yellow. The white band in the middle carries the city seal which carries the words "The City of San Diego, State of California, Semper vigilans". The Latin motto semper vigilans means "ever vigilant". The official flag of the City of San Diego was adopted by the City Council on Oct. 16, 1934. It would be interesting to use this design with the Spanish colors red yellow and red.
